increase in 2008

Despite a slight slowdown in March, the Portuguese footwear exports finish the first quarter in positive way, with an increase of 4%.
In the first three months of 2008, the Portuguese footwear industry put in international footwear markets evaluated in 328 million Euros. France remains the main market (97 million euros), despite the retreat of 1.6% in the first quarter. The cause of the growth of Portuguese exports in 2008 is Germany, with an increase of 24% to 71 million euros. Thirdly the destination of Portuguese footwear exports is Netherlands, despite the decrease of 4.5% to 32 million euros.
The Sales of Portuguese footwear in Spain have again a positive performance (an increase of 5.2% to 30 million euros), unliDespite a slight slowdown in March, the Portuguese footwear exports finish the first quarter in positive way, with an increase of 4%.

The Sales of Portuguese footwear in Spain have again a positive performance (an increase of 5.2% to 30 million euros), unlike the situation in the United Kingdom (broken 21% to 27 million) – Euro/pound effect.
Outside the EU, to retain the setbacks in Russia and USA, respectively, of 26% to 3.5 and 31.5% to 2.5 million euros and a good performance once again in Angola (plus 20% to 2,7 million euros).
