Portuguese exports increase

for the third consecutive year

Despite the climate of recession in the international plan, the Portuguese footwear exports continue to show a very positive performance. In 2008 portuguese footwear sales in the foreign markets increased 2.2% to 1,348 million euros.

This is also the third consecutive year of growth in Portuguese footwear exports. Since 2005 we can register an increase in more than 10%.

By markets, the portuguese exports are growing mainly in Germany, Netherlands, Spain and Denmark. Outside Europe, emphasis to the growth in Angola, Russia and Japan. In the totality, Portugal exported footwear to 113 countries.
