Portugal continues to reinforce its presence at the biggest footwear exhibition worldwide. 96 companies will integrate the national delegation at MICAM, which will take place between September 3 and 6, and at MIPEL (accessories' exhibition). It is the greatest presence ever of the sector on an event abroad.
The presence at MICAM is inserted within a promotional strategy determined by APICCAPS and AICEP, with the support of the COMPETE Program 2020, and aims to consolidate the position of the Portuguese footwear within the external markets.
Since the beginning of the year, approximately 190 companies of the footwear industry are participating on a huge promotion program at an international level, which will result on the presence in over 60 of the most prestigious international forums of the sector.
Attendance record at MICAM
At the beginning of September, in Milan, Portugal will register its biggest attendance ever at an event abroad. Overall, 96 Portuguese companies (the previous record was of 94 companies, precisely at MICAM) will respond for over 8 thousand work stations and approximately 500 million euros in exports.
The external commercial promotion is a top priority for the Portuguese footwear industry, which places 95% of its production abroad. Once again, the attendance at the biggest and most prestigious footwear exhibition worldwide will be of great importance. Overall, over 1.600 exhibitors from approximately 50 countries and over 40 thousand professional visitors will attend the exhibition in Milan. Portugal will be once more the second largest foreigner delegation at the fair, being only surpassed by Spain.
Luís Onofre launches men’s footwear
It’s the greatest innovation of the brand for 2017 and the main highlight of the next MICAM. Luís Onofre is preparing to launch an exclusive line of men’s footwear.
“I wanted to do something with which I would relate. It will be a sporty and classic line, very sober and basic with neutral colors. It will not be scandalous, oppositely of the women’s collection.”
Besides the investment on the design and materials’ quality, the new line has the feature of making men taller. “The shoes will have a little height compensation, which will allow on a subtle and disguised way to elevate the men’s height on 3 or 4 centimeters”.
The new collection will be available in the stores on 2017.
