The promotional activities of the footwear sector to 2010 have already defined. In total, more than 140 companies will participate in 80 professional fairs all over the world. Compared with 2009, it is an increase of 51%.
Indeed, in 2009, the Footwear Industry participated in 53 fairs abroad and made a trade mission to Angola. Numbers that go up to 80 actions in 2010 and is expected including participation in 76 fairs and exhibitions and conducting four exploratory missions (to Angola, Libya, Mexico and Tunisia).
The Commercial Department of APICCAPS stands out for “the growing demand of companies for the northern Europe markets, especially Denmark and the UK”. On the other hand the presence in trade fairs in Italy will continue to increase, the presence at Expo Riva, Garda, which takes place in January and June, has been growing in a sustained way and there is even the Portuguese companies in the waiting list, while the MICAM that will be held in March in Milan, are already entered new companies.
Another important factor is related with to the increase in the number of participations. So if in 2009 the number of participations (total number of attendance at various fairs and exhibitions worldwide) rose to 421 in 2010 should be 633, that is an increase of more than 50%.
Also the investment in the sector in promoting foreign trade will increase by third consecutive year. In 2010, should rise to 9 million euros , with the support of the COMPETE Program.
The sector will invest in increasing the participation in fairs and exhibitions worldwide as MICAM, Riva del Garda (both Italy) and GDS (Germany), fin fairs of strong regional expression (Modacalzado in Spain Ciff and CPG Visoon, both in Scandinavia) and niche fairs (Bread & Butter, Germany, Who s Next, Mess Around, Midec, Premiere Classe, Italmoda and Fashion Week in France - each one aimed different audiences and different market segments - The Brandery in Spain, Pure,Moda Footwear and London Fashion Week, in the United Kingdom).
The emphasis will fall, however, in an unprecedented bet on markets with high growth potential for Portuguese companies as Brazil (Fimec and Francal), China (Dongguan China Shoes and Shoes China), United Arab Emirates (Expo Riva Middle East, Motexha, Dubai Footwear Expo Shoes, Abu Dhabi e Who s Next Dubai), USA (NY, Sole Commerce e Capsule NY), Greece (Hellenic Shoe Fair), Japan ( participation in ISF and Rooms), Poland (in the BTS, in the Poznan Fashion Week) and Russia (Euroshoes MosShoes, Obuv Mir Khoza and Shoes Access, that is four fairs).
