News Innovation Awards with Milan as a «backdrop»
The Innovation Awards in the Footwear Industry are going to have Milan for a backdrop again. The Centro Tecnológico de Calçado de Portugal (CTCP) (Portuguese Footwear Technological Center) and the Instituto Nacional da Propriedade Industrial (INPI) (National Institute of Industrial Property) are once again going to distinguish the most notable Portuguese companies in 2010. The Innovation Awards in the Footwear Industry – GAPI – are divided into six categories and will be given at the largest footwear fair in the world, MICAM, which will take place in Milan, between the 19th and 22nd September.

As usual, the companies that have stood out in terms of design will be distinguished in the men, lady and children’s categories. There will also be an award for the “prestige collection” and revelation brand of the year.

One of the great highlights will be the attribution of an award that distinguishes the companies that most invested in ecological and environmental components. Thus, all the footwear companies present in the September edition of MICAM 2010 that have innovative collections with ecological products and bioproducts can enter for the “EcoCalçado e BioCalçado” (“EcoFootwear and BioFootwear) award. The selection criteria will be the presentation of a collection that is their own and exclusive with design, concepts, developments, or innovative constructions, using materials and components based on environmental sustainability, and which also have characteristics such as originality, quality, and comfort, integrating the Biocalce label or other official labels or certifications.

The Innovation Awards in the Footwear Industry will be decided by a jury comprised of representatives of INPI (that will preside the jury), CTCP, AICEP and CFPIC.
Remember that in the last few years GAPI has already awarded almost thirty Portuguese companies and brands.
