With Gisela João, Portuguese Soul premieres on RTP2 on the 30th of October, at 7:50 pm.

The partnership between RTP2 and APICCAPS takes shape again on the public television antenna. However, this time, in an entirely different format from What’s Up – Olhar a Moda, which was on air for more than five years.

Entitled Portuguese Soul, like the Association’s magazine, the programme now has the format of a documental series. Set to premiere on the 30th of October, at 7:50 pm, it will exhibit eight episodes characterized by an in-depth look. The programme is supported by COMPETE 2020.

What makes up the fabric of a material? From what is made the social fabric of a material? With what lines are the fabric of material woven, and how does this material weave into the social fabric? Portuguese Soul will seek to answer all these questions.
Furthering her relationship to the world of fashion, Gisela João boards on a journey to discover the raw materials and the people who embody Fashion. Portuguese Soul looks adequately to the beginning in a documental journey made up of questions, discoveries and, above all, experiences, exploring, at each episode, the substance, and the know-how of a material.
Having as a premiss to divulge the national fashion, Portuguese Soul constitutes a good example of a public-private partnership. "RTP welcomes once more the community and sets an excellent example of public television service”, considers Luís Onofre, President of APICCAPS. To Lígia Gonçalves, "Portuguese Soul is a journey into the essence of eight raw materials. As with all travels, discovery is inherent. As with all travels, transformation is inevitable. "Guided by Gisela’s incredible hands, we are awakened and learn, at each episode, more about what we wear”, underlines the director Daniel Gorjão.

"We regard sustainability very seriously. For that reason, we launched over two years ago the Action Plan for Sustainability in the Footwear Industry”, recalls Luís Onofre. Between companies, universities, and entities of the scientific and technological ecosystem "we involved almost 100 companies and launched more than 50 measures”.

The President of APICCAPS says that "we want to be leaders in the development of sustainable solutions for the footwear industry”, which is why "a documental series such as this one will help us to place the theme of sustainability at the core of our sector’s strategy, as well as to raise awareness to the topic amidst the public”.
