News Birthday party balloons are being turned into shoe soles
Felgueiras company has developed a process that gives a new life to balloons. All children dream of balloons in all colours, shapes and sizes. But what happens when the party’s over?

ISI Soles thought about this and has prepared a collection with the soles of children’s shoes made from defective birthday party balloons. "One in every 100 balloons has a defect and since there is not yet any way to recycle them, they are usually sent to the landfill where they slowly decompose,” announced the company in a statement. ISI Soles has developed a process that allows these defective balloons to be incorporated into the soles of shoes, creating environmentally-friendly soles made out of recycled balloons.

"They are sustainable soles that help protect the planet. Concern for the environment and sustainability is a constant at ISI Soles. We are always looking for new materials that can be recycled and incorporated into our soles. Especially waste materials that are not biodegradable and for which society has not yet found ways to recycle,” said Vítor Mendes, manager of ISI Soles.
