News Louis Vuitton invests in Portugal
The prestigious brand of luxury products Louis Vuitton will invest in Portugal, with the opening of a factory in Ponte de Lima.

This company specializes in the production of handbags and other luxury articles and has purchased an old factory in Calvelo, in the municipality of Ponte de Lima. The premises are currently being renovated in an investment of 6.7 million euros.

Currently, the multinational has 40 workers among their staff but hopes to create over 500 jobs. “The renovation works are almost finished and we will be able to hire the said number of staff until the end of 2012” said the Mayor of Ponte de Lima, Vítor Mendes. According to Vítor Mendes, the company chose the municipality of Ponte de Lima due to the tax advantages that the local authorities have decided to maintain over the next year.  The full production of the brand Vuitton should start in October.
