News Lusocal bets on recycled and biodegradable
Recycled products, biodegradable, renewable energy. These are some of Lusocal’s bets. The leading company in toe-puffs, counters and reinforcements for shoes wagers on global sustainability policies across the entire company, ranging from products to energy.

Approximately 60 tons of scraps, resulting from the company’s activity, are reintroduced each year into the manufacturing process, originating ranges of recycled products commercialized later by the company. "The scraps result from cutting the toe-puffs and counters of the Talyn® and Relion® families that we supply to our customers. Then, they are used to produce the ranges Talyn® S, Relion® B and Relion® Z. Our ranges of recycled toe-puffs and counters are already GRS certified”, explains Tiago Henriques, general manager.

In addition to the recycled materials, the company offers a line of certified toe-puffs, counters and reinforcements 100% biodegradable, produced with cotton and biodegradable polymers.

But that’s not all. Besides the sustainable products, Lusocal has ventured into the renewable energy field by installing photovoltaic panels that guarantee 60% of the consumed energy. "Other than producing most of the energy, all the remaining energy consumed comes from renewable sources”, assumes the company’s manager.

Moreover, Lusocal’s commercial fleet is electric, and the short-term goal is to migrate the entire fleet to electric vehicles. "Our goal is to have the entire fleet electric in next two years”, concludes.
