News Portuguese Footwear in the Spotlight at International Fashion Weeks
Portuguese footwear returned strongly to the international runways through a series of partnerships with some of today’s most renowned international designers. These collaborations were unveiled throughout January and February in New York City, Paris and Milan, through runway shows and presentations, highlighting Portugal’s growing influence in the world of designer and luxury fashion.

In New York, Portuguese footwear featured in a series of exclusive collaborations with Campillo, Daniela Kallmeyer and Libertine, who partnered respectively with Mariano, JJ Heitor and Helena Mar.

In Paris, Portuguese footwear once again joined forces with Willy Chavarria, in collaboration with the companies Luís Onofre and Mariano Shoes.

Also in Paris, Portuguese footwear stood out with the duo Ernest W. Baker. In Milan, it was Miguel Vieira who showcased the best of Portuguese footwear within the framework of Portugal Fashion.

By partnering with these designers, the Portuguese footwear industry reinforces its mission to integrate technical excellence, craftsmanship and national production capacity directly into the creative process. At the same time, APICCAPS enables the development of product categories that might otherwise not move forward, ensuring access to specialised know-how, technical resources and production scale — always respecting each creator’s vision. These collaborations go beyond traditional sponsorship, supporting projects from their runway debut through to commercial viability and long-term potential.

For Willy Chavarria, Portugal offers "precision, quality and a genuine commitment to innovation.”

"These collaborations reflect our commitment to supporting designers with outstanding production expertise, while also showcasing the depth and versatility of Portuguese footwear,” says Paulo Gonçalves, Executive Director of APICCAPS. "The materials used in the collections were developed under the BioShoes4all project, reinforcing APICCAPS’ commitment to innovation, research and the development of new materials. By working closely with designers throughout the entire creative and development process, we help transform bold ideas into high-quality products designed to last.”

The Portuguese footwear industry exports more than 90% of its production and is increasingly recognised internationally for its precision, innovation and artisanal heritage.

In the second half of the year, Portuguese footwear is also expected to be present at London Fashion Week, in partnership with the London College of Fashion.
