News Strong comeback to MICAM
The Portuguese footwear cluster is back in Milan. In a week, dozens of companies will take part in the three reference events dedicated to the footwear and leather goods sector.

The national delegation at MICAM will count on the participation of 41 companies, in what is a long-awaited return. "MICAM is the main fair in the sector and is very relevant for national companies, as it brings together the biggest players in the sector worldwide”, says Luís Onofre. For the President of APICCAPS, the Portuguese turnout at the fair "is of the utmost importance to consolidate businesses”, at a time when the Portuguese industry shows signs of vitality in the international markets.

The Portuguese Government will be represented at MICAM by the Ministry of Economy and Sea, António Costa e Silva, and the Secretary of State for the Economy, João Neves. The presence of Portuguese companies at MICAM is part of the promotional strategy defined by APICCAPS and AICEP, with the support of the Compete 2020 Program, to consolidate the positioning of Portuguese footwear in foreign markets, to which the sector exports more than 95% of its production.

News at MICAM
MICAM is preparing once more to display the major trends for the next season (Spring-Summer 2023). To this end, it was planned an extensive agenda of lectures, organized by the international consultancy firm WGSN, in the MICAM X area. For three days, the space will be a stage for the most innovative high-tech proposals, functioning as a meeting point for companies and speakers from all over the world.
With a unique calendar, MICAM X will promote the debate about the unknowns of the future, while looking for new ways to interpret the developments that are changing the "rules of the game”. The lectures will cover the themes: art, fashion, tradition and future, trends and materials, sustainability and the future of retail.

In addition to this space, creativity can be found in the Emerging Designers area, which welcomes the creations of 12 young talents under the motto "Research, Sustainability, Originality”.

This is also the "Glamorous ball” edition, the third and last chapter of "MICAM Glass Slipper”, the ‘MICAM fairy tale’ that set the tone for the event’s promotional campaign. The new chapter in MICAM’s advertising campaign is part of the #micamtales communication project - under the creative direction of Laureri Associates x MM Company. "International trade fairs increasingly need to focus on innovative multimedia content. Effective communications capable of attracting visitors and creating engagement are a priority these days. Trade fairs not only represent an irreplaceable business opportunity, but allow us to forge a deeper bond with visitors through imagery. And our advertising campaign is our best business card, ideally expressing what the event is all about”, says Siro Badon, the former Chairman of the Italian Manufacturers' Association, responsible for MICAM’s organization.

Lineapelle hosts strong national delegation
At a time when the Portuguese footwear industry wants to be an international benchmark in the development of sustainable solutions, 35 Portuguese companies - namely 13 of footwear components and 22 of tanneries – participate in Lineapelle, the most important international fair dedicated to leather, accessories, and footwear components. From the 20th to the 22nd of September, the event will count with one of the biggest national delegations ever.
So far, more than 1100 exhibitors (growth of 15% as compared to February) have registered to take part in what will be a special edition of the event, the 100th edition. "100 editions of the future for a trade fair that takes up the challenge of building new, sustainable and responsible supply chain scenarios and goes beyond the concept of a trade fair, opening the door to a world of ideas”, advances the organization.
