Portuguese Footwear Strengthens Presence at the World’s Largest Footwear Trade Fair Forty-three Portuguese footwear companies are heading to Milan to take part in the 100th edition of MICAM, the largest and most important international footwear trade fair.
Within the span of a month, over 80 Portuguese companies will participate in various events in Milan, in an initiative led by APICCAPS in partnership with AICEP and supported by the Compete 2030 program.
"In an international context marked by great uncertainty, we remain strongly committed to gradually returning to international markets,” says Luís Onofre. For the President of APICCAPS, "the Portuguese footwear and leather goods cluster exports more than 90% of its production, making participation in international trade events abroad especially relevant.”
According to APICCAPS, after two years of major restraint, "2025 is a year of consolidation for Portuguese footwear in foreign markets.” "The first half of the year was positive, and we are doing everything we can to maintain this momentum through to the end of the year,” Onofre concludes.
The Portuguese delegation at MICAM and MIPEL will include 43 companies, while 33 companies—producers of footwear components and tanneries—will represent Portugal at Lineapelle. At SIMAC, the leading trade fair for cutting-edge technology, Portugal will be represented by five companies.
