The greatest footwear exhibition in the world started up today, in Milan. Portugal is represented at the fair with a total of 33 companies, on this first big event after quarantine.
Luís Onofre, the President of APICCAPS, hopes "that MICAM will be a great launch pad for the next few months of the industry”. Luís Onofre reinforces the importance of the attendance at international events as one of the primary solutions for the companies’ success.
To date, there are 500 registered exhibitors and, at least, 5.000 buyers, from Italy and all-around Europe. "MICAM will the first big event at an international scale hosted at Fiera Milano Rho since the lockdown. It will be a relaunch opportunity for the footwear companies”. To Siro Badon, MICAM’s President, "face-to-face meetings continue to be the best way of doing business, allowing buyers to have a direct contact to suppliers”.
The attendance at international fairs happens within the promotional strategy defined by APICCAPS and AICEP, with the support of the program Compete 2020, and aims to consolidate the relative position of the Portuguese footwear in external markets.
External commercial promotion is one of the main priorities of the Portuguese Footwear Industry, which distributes over 95% of its production to international markets.
