News Portuguese Footwear Industry at MICAM

Today is the second day of the biggest footwear fair worldwide. Portugal is represented at MICAM with 33 companies, in the first big promotion event after the pandemic started.

On the first day of the fair, the Portuguese companies have received the visit of two members of the Portuguese Government. "At this time of economic recovery, the presence of the Portuguese companies at the most relevant events of the industry is essential. It’s a sign of resilience”, says the Government.

According to APICCAP’s President, Luís Onofre, "MICAM is a very important event for the Portuguese Footwear Industry, considering that the sector exports 95% of its production to 163 countries worldwide”.

The attendance at international fairs happens within the promotional strategy defined by APICCAPS and AICEP, with the support of the program Compete 2020, and aims to consolidate the relative position of the Portuguese footwear in external markets.

External commercial promotion is one of the main priorities of the Portuguese Footwear Industry, which distributes over 95% of its production to international markets.
